I've had this idea in the back of my mind ever since GMK sent me their special effects samples, back when they weren’t even available for purchase yet. The concept felt solid from the start, but I was never happy with how it looked in renders (skill issue).
Time to give it another shot. This time I think I’ve finally managed to replicate how the effect actually looks in real life, or at least as close as possible to the samples I have at home.
The goals for this set are pretty simple:
Create a “classic” that can work on almost any board, with optional accents if you just want to add a splash of color or match them to your board.
Text-only modifiers: I’ve always loved them on minimal sets like GMK Minimal or the more recent Modern Materials, and I think they fit perfectly here.
Keep the effect subtle: GMK offers three effect intensities (Light / Medium / High), and the goal here is something tasteful rather than overpowering.
Colors that fit the theme: I think we’re golden, a marble theme with RAL Marble Grey for the base and RAL Marble Red, Blue, and Green for the accents.
