Commission Guidelines
Have a great keycap set idea, but don’t want to deal with the hassle of designing it yourself?
I’ve got you covered.
I’ve got you covered.
When you commission me, you’re not just getting a set of renders and being sent on your way. You’ll have my full support throughout the entire process: from initial concept to a fully developed set, ready for an Interest Check and, hopefully, production.
Here’s what’s included:
- Support for any profile, any legend/sublegend, and (almost) any material or effect.
- We’ll start by exploring your idea and refining it together based on your preferences.
- I can assist with simple logo and novelty designs. For more complex needs, I’ll connect you with talented designers who specialize in those areas.
- I’ll help plan optimal kitting, tailored to your chosen profile and manufacturer. You’ll always have the final say.
- Once the design is locked in, I’ll create final kitting and keyboard renders.
- Renders will be post-edited in Photoshop for presentation.
- When everything is ready, I’ll deliver a full package of files.
It doesn’t stop there:
- If needed, I’ll guide you through writing and posting your Geekhack Interest Check.
- If needed, I can introduce you to vendors and manufacturers.
- I’ll support you through color sampling and help revise renders to better match real-world samples.
- Need to tweak the design or kitting based on feedback from your IC form? No problem. I’ll stick with you until your set gets produced.
A few important notes:
While I’ll support you every step of the way, I can’t guarantee your set will be picked up by vendors or that it will reach MOQ. A lot depends on the profile, manufacturer, and market fit.
We can pivot to another profile or manufacturer later in the process if needed.
Packaging design is not included in the base commission and requires an additional fee. (Some manufacturers, like Signature Plastics, don’t require packaging design at all.)
To place a commission, feel free to message me on Discord (g_tour).
It’s best if you already have a general idea in mind before reaching out.
Since every project is different, pricing depends on complexity and your specific requirements. I’ll give you a quote after our first chat.
Turnaround times can vary and will depend in part on how quickly we're able to communicate and make decisions.
Are you a maker who specializes in another part of the keyboard hobby?
I'm open to skill-based exchanges. I’d be happy to design a keycap set for you in return for your support with something in your area of expertise (e.g., keyboard or PCB design).
